Frequently Asked Questions About Classic Car Restoration

Thinking about restoring your classic car with Griffin Automotive Design? Here are some of the most common questions we get about the process, our facility, and what to expect.

Every project is unique, but most full-frame-off restorations take anywhere from 14-24 months, depending on the complexity, parts availability, and level of customization. We’ll give you a realistic timeline before we begin and keep you updated every step of the way.

Yes! While we’re known for full restorations, we also offer partial restoration services, including paint and bodywork, interior upgrades, engine replacements, suspension work, and more. Whether you want to preserve a patina or go full showroom-quality, we’ll tailor the scope to your goals.

We specialize in classic American cars and trucks, including muscle cars, hot rods, and vintage pickups. We’ve restored everything from ’30s Coupes to more modern muscle cars and trucks, but we also take on resto-mods and custom builds. If you’re not sure, reach out—we’re happy to take a look.

Not at all! We offer transportation services for clients outside the Greater St. Louis area. We’ll help coordinate secure, insured vehicle pickup from anywhere in the U.S. and bring it directly to our 35,000-square-foot facility in Bonne Terre, MO.

Yes, you’re welcome to provide parts if you already have specific ones in mind, but they must be supplied at the time of drop-off. Note that we only warranty labor on parts we supply, for the duration of the manufacturer’s warranty. That said, we also have strong vendor relationships and may be able to source better quality or hard-to-find components. We’ll work with you to find the best option for your build.

It depends on the level of restoration or customization. We generally break projects down by labor hours:

Restoration:

  • Level 1: 400 – 1,000 hours
  • Level 2: 1,000 – 2,000 hours
  • Level 3: 2,000 – 5,000 hours

Customization:

  • Level 1: 500 – 1,500 hours
  • Level 2: 1,500 – 3,000 hours
  • Level 3: 3,000 – 10,000+ hours

After an inspection, we’ll give you a detailed scope of work and estimate based on your goals.

Absolutely. We believe in full transparency and communication. You’ll receive regular updates, photos, and progress reports so you’re always in the loop—even if you’re across the country.
