1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Touring
Charlie Beis’ 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Touring started with plans for an LS swap and black paint. However, the project quickly evolved into a complete custom build at Griffin Automotive Design. The finished Camaro combines turbocharged power, modern handling, custom bodywork, and a handcrafted interior.
Under the hood sits a 376ci Chevrolet Performance LS3 paired with a 76mm Turbonetics turbocharger. Together, the combination produces approximately 600 horsepower. A built 4L65E transmission sends power to a Detroit Speed 9-inch rear end. In addition, we fabricated custom headers and a 3-inch exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers.
The Camaro rides on a Detroit Speed Hydroformed front subframe with tubular control arms and rack-and-pinion steering. A Detroit Speed QUADRALink system handles the rear suspension. Meanwhile, JRi coilovers provide control at all four corners. Wilwood six-piston brakes and 14-inch rotors provide the stopping power.
Griffin Automotive Design completed the bodywork before finishing the Camaro in Axalta black paint. Modified carbon-fiber bumpers, mini-tubs, and a custom carbon-fiber lower valance give the exterior a more aggressive appearance. Forgeline wheels and wide Toyo Proxes R888 tires complete the stance.
Inside, brown Relicate leather covers the custom interior and fifth-generation Camaro seats. We also created custom fiberglass and aluminum door panels, a custom dashboard, and a center console. Additionally, the Camaro features Auto Meter gauges, Vintage Air climate control, and a modern audio system.
The finished Camaro retains the unmistakable character of a 1969 model while delivering a completely different driving experience. From its 600-horsepower turbocharged LS3 to its handcrafted interior, Charlie’s Camaro represents the level of detail and fabrication behind a complete Griffin Automotive Design build.
